Abstract: Strategic management is relatively young in comparison to other disciplines – both in the context of business schools as well as in the broader domains of hard and soft sciences. How well has strategic management made the transition to a more mature field? What adaptation opportunities are there for scholars to improve both the rigor and relevance of their research and teaching? This panel discussion will focus on four papers using bibliometric approaches to identify both strengths of the field, as well as opportunities for advancement. The panel will include presentations on four topics, each based on bibliometric analysis. Two use bibliometric data as dependent variables, two as independent variables. Discussion will focus on the papers and on the use of bibliometric approaches within strategic management.
