  • Michael Withers, Texas A&M University

Corporate strategy is inherently influenced by the motivations and characteristics of the managers formulating and implementing it. The focus on role of the manager in corporate strategy decisions and outcomes has led to a number of important theoretical and empirical insights. Yet, despite this progress, a number of questions remain unanswered. In this secession, we will discuss recent work considering the role of the manager in corporate strategy decisions. In particular, we will examine the roles of the CEO, top management team, and board of directors on corporate strategy and what new theoretical insights might be garnered from the continued focus on the role of the manager in corporate strategy decisions. Finally, promising future research questions in this area will be explored.
