The Ostrava Region has been historically perceived as a region of industry, characterized by deep underground exploitation and mining of coal, metallurgical and engineering production as well. In the last century Ostrava was called as “steel heart of the republic”. The discovery of coal and the possibilities of its usage contributed to the technological and cultural development of human beings in the last 200 years. After 1989, with the advent of the market economy has been to downsize the modernization of traditional production of commodities and the accession of modern and non-traditional business activities. This process has a number of negative phenomena, such as the relatively high unemployment, high air pollution, etc.

The Ostrava Extension will enable the exchange of experience in this area. The Conference Extension venue, at a well-known location Landek, where coal was found in the 18th century, among others will allow participants a tour of a typical infrastructure of brownfields after deep underground coal mining and the perception of these industrial monuments such as the cultural heritage of our ancestors.

In the view of above topics, the aim is to link our research work to the recent development in field of managerial and organization appreciation, management innovations as well as renewal strategies. The Ostrava Extension brings together scholars, executives and innovation policymakers in advancing the research and practice in a unique conference organized for the first time in the Moravian-Silesian Region.
